Meeting the Environmental
Challenge |
|
|
|
|
With the increasing concerns
about Global Warming and
Climate Change, aviation took
an active approach towards the
abatement of green house
gases. The objective of
keeping the maximum
temperature rise to below 2
degrees Celsius requires more
than emissions monitoring. It
requires definitely the
mobilization of a multitude of
endeavors; namely: collective
political will, understanding
the difference between the
development of nations,
endeavors for the use of
bio-fuel, governments’ reform
of the infrastructure and
finally the continuous
development of airframe and
engines technologies.
The industry needs to avoid a
patch work of environmental
initiatives which may take the
easy road of taxing airlines
even more. The industry,
especially in the Arab world,
continues to invest in newer
fleets and in technology to
deliver better environmental
footprint. |
